On 8 January 2018, Prof. Zaiga Krišjāne from the University of Latvia in Riga delivered a presentation to students and faculty members at Bielefeld University. She presented findings based on an anlysis of quantitative and qualitative data collected by the Latvian team in the YMOBILITY project. Her talk focused on the diverse profiles of Latvian return migrants, and particularly highlighted the motivations that influence young intra-EU migrants’ decisions to return to Latvia. These often differ from the predominantly economic drivers of outmigration. The presentation was integrated into the BA course on Global Mobilities but also attended by graduate students and faculty members. It was followed by an exchange of ideas about motivations for outmigration and return in different geographical contexts.
